Outbreak of Measles in the Independent State of Samoa: Dispatch of the 2nd Batch of Japan Disaster Relief Infectious Diseases Response Team

1. Upon the request of the Government of the Independent State of Samoa, the Government of Japan dispatched the Infectious Diseases Response Team of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) composed of a doctor, a nurse, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Independent State of Samoa from 2nd December in response to the Measles outbreak in the country. This time, the Government of Japan has decided to send the second batch of JDR Infectious Diseases Response Team to Samoa upon the request of the Government of Samoa to continue its assistance. The team will depart on 14th December to Samoa.

2. The team will give assistance to provide clinical care to patients suffering from measles outbreaks in collaboration with the Government of the Independent State of Samoa, relevant countries, and International Organizations.
