Sixteenth Round of Negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea
1. The sixteenth round of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) was held in Seoul, from November 27 to 29.
2. Mr. Takehiro Kagawa, Ambassador for International Economic Affairs of Japan, Mr. Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy International Trade Representative of China, Mr. Yeo Han Koo, Deputy Minister for Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, and representatives from relevant Ministries of each country attended the meeting.
3. In this round of negotiations, in addition to the Chief Delegates’ Meeting and DG/DDG Meeting, working groups at the expert level on each negotiating area were held, and the three countries had concrete discussions on market access and rules (such as electronic commerce and intellectual property). The three countries also affirmed to continue negotiations toward the conclusion of comprehensive, high-level and mutually beneficial agreement, based on the progress of RCEP.
