1. The Government of Japan welcomes the signing of the Riyadh Agreement between the Government of Yemen and the South Transitional Council on November 5 (local time) as an important step toward the stability in Yemen. The Government of Japan hopes that all stakeholders will steadily implement the Agreement and that it will lead to an early settlement of conflicts in Yemen.

2. The Government of Japan also applauds the mediation effort by the Government of Saudi Arabia which played an important role in achieving the Agreement.

3. The Government of Japan has engaged in humanitarian assistance for Yemen and remains committed to continuously contributing to the region in cooperation with countries concerned so as to maintain and reinforce the peace and stability in the Middle East.
