The launch meeting of Gavi’s third replenishment
1. Japan will host the launch meeting of Gavi’s third replenishment in Yokohama on 30 August 2019, on the occasion of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7).
2. Representatives of donor governments, recipient countries, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, international organizations including UNICEF, the private sector, civil society organizations and African countries attending TICAD7 will participate in the meeting.
3. At the meeting, the participants will discuss Gavi’s Investment Case for the next five-year strategy from 2021 to 2025.

Gavi is a Private-Public Partnership established in 2000 with the aim of saving children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing the coverage of vaccines in lower-income countries. Gavi has helped 73 lower-income countries introduce and expand immunization, strengthen health systems and shape markets for vaccines.

Gavi sets a five- year replenishment cycle. “The launch meeting of replenishment” is held prior to the next replenishment meeting in order to discuss financial needs and resources mobilization targets. The 3rd Replenishment Meeting will take place in 2020 in the UK. The past Gavi replenishment-related meetings were held in Europe. The meeting will be held for the first time in Asia.
