The first Council Meeting of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University (TJU)
1. The first Council Meeting of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University was held in Istanbul, Turkey on August 2.
2. TJU is planned to be established in the Republic of Turkey in order to contribute to strengthening the cooperation in the area of education, science and technology as well as to promoting academic exchange between Japan and Turkey based on the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between Japan and the Republic of Turkey in May, 2013. The first Council Meeting was held following the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the University between both countries in June, 2016, the enactment of Turkish domestic regulation concerning the establishment of the University in June, 2017, and the appointment of council members of both countries this year.
3. The members discussed the concept of TJU and campus planning at the meeting, they also visited TJU campus site. The council members of both countries confirmed that they would continue to cooperate with each other in order to open the University as soon as possible.
