Foreign Minister Taro Kono received a courtesy call by Ms. Rula Maaya, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian Authority



On July 22, Ms. Rula Maaya, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian Authority, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, commencing at 17:45 for approximately 15 minutes. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows;
1. At the outset, Minister Kono welcomed Minister Maaya’s visit to Japan and expressed his appreciation for her attendance at " Tourism Seminar for Seminar," which was held today at Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA). Minister Kono also touched upon Japan’s assistance for “the Project for the Construction of the Protective Shelter and the Presentation of the Great Bath at Hisham's Palace, Jericho,” which is expected to be completed next year, and expressed his hope for increase of Japanese tourists to Palestine.
2. In response, Minister Maaya expressed her gratitude for Japan’s support to Palestine in various fields, and stated her expectation for continued support from Japan.
3. Minister Kono pointed out the importance of tourism sector development in the context of Palestinian economy, and expressed that Japan will continue to cooperate in the field of tourism together with her, including the revitalization of “Corridor for Tourism” initiative, among others.
