The TICAD 7 Preparatory Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM)
1. The Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) of TICAD7 was held in Ethiopia from June 10 to 11, 2019. The Meeting was held with participation of approximately 300 representatives in total, including officials of the Government of Japan led by Ambassador Shigeru Ushio, Director General of African Affairs, as well as the representatives of TICAD co-organizers (the United Nations, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union Commission (AUC)), delegations of African countries and other partner countries, international and civil society organizations.
2. At the Meeting, the participants from African countries and many other parties from international society held in-depth discussion on the expected outcomes at TICAD 7 which will be held from 28 to 30 August 2019 in Yokohama, Japan.
