1. Japan strongly condemns that rockets were launched from Gaza to Israel in an indiscriminate and sustained manner, causing casualty and injury to Israeli civilians. Japan is deeply concerned about casualties and injuries caused among both Israelis and Palestinians by subsequent responses by the two sides.

2. Japan firmly believes that the issues the two parties, Israel and Palestine face, cannot by any means be resolved by violence, and that they can be resolved only through efforts of both sides to build mutual trust and through negotiations between them. The recent rocket launches run against such efforts. Japan urges all parties concerned to exert their maximum efforts toward resuming the peace negotiations.
