On March 7, from 10:20 for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from. H.E. Mr. Yavuz Selim Kiran, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey. The outline of the courtesy call is as follows.

1. Foreign Minister Kono welcomed Deputy Minister Kiran’s visit to Japan, who would participate in the Japan-Turkey Consular Consultation in the afternoon, and stated that he hopes it would produce fruitful discussions. Mr. Kono also stated that Turkey is an important strategic partner for Japan, Japan would further strengthen Japan-Turkey cooperation in various areas and look forward to receiving President Erdogan in June for the G20 Summit and Minister Çavuşoğlu for the G20 Foreign Minister’s meeting in November.

2. In return, Deputy Minister Kiran said that H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, gave his regards to Foreign Minsiter Taro Kono. Mr. Kiran also mentioned that a good relationship between Japan and Turkey is based on close communication between the Foreign Ministers of both countries. Mr. Kiran also stated that he would like to discuss various bilateral issues between Japan and Turkey in the consular area in the Japan-Turkey Consular Consultation in the afternoon.
