The Final Solution of the Name Issue of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

1. Japan welcomes entry into force of the Prespa Agreement between Greece and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia regarding its new name “ the Republic of North Macedonia”, putting an end to the about 30-year-long bilateral differences between two countries.
2. The resolution of the name issue contributes to consolidation of peace and stability of the Balkan region. Japan expectes that Prespa Agreement will be implemented steadily so that cooperation in the region will further deepen.
