1. On December12, the Council on Safety Measures for International Cooperation Projects as a permanent council held its fifth meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by Mr. Takeshi Akamatsu, Deputy Director-General for Safety Measures for International Cooperation, International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Takumi Ueshima, Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA), as well as government officials, members of the private sector, NGO personnel, and others.

2. The participants shared information and discussed recent actions including those taken overseas on safety measures for international cooperation projects, bearing in mind the Final Report of the Council released on August 30, 2016.
