The Adoption of Resolution by the United Nations Security Council On Lifting of Sanctions on Eritrea

1. The Government of Japan welcomes the unanimous adoption of the United Nations Security Council resolution 2444 on November 14th to lift sanctions imposed on Eritrea.
2. The Government of Japan expresses its hope that the adoption of this resolution will contribute to enhancing peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region, especially to the settlement of the issue of the Djiboutian combatants missing in action and resolution of the border dispute between Djibouti and Eritrea. Japan also hopes that relations between the two countries will be normalized.
3. The Government of Japan will continue to support efforts by relevant countries for peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
