The first Japan-Maldives Policy Dialogue

1. The first Japan-Maldives Policy Dialogue was held on Thursday, June 14 in Tokyo. This dialogue was agreed to launch in the Japan-Maldives Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in January this year.
2. The Japanese side was represented by Mr. Shigeki Takizaki, Director-General, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and other officials from the Ministry. The Maldivian side was represented by Mr. Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary Bilateral, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, and other officials from the Ministry.
3. Both sides exchanged views on political and economic relations, economic cooperation, and regional issues.
