The appointment of a new prime minister of the Republic of Madagascar

1. The Government of Japan welcomes the appointment of Mr. Christian Ntsay as the new Prime Minister of Madagascar on 4th June and the establishment of the new cabinet on 11 June.
2. The Government of Japan expresses its hope that the next presidential election in Madagascar will be conducted in a free, transparent, democratic and peaceful manner, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
3. The Government of Japan will continue to cooperate with Madagascar so that the relationship between the two countries will make further leaps in line with the "Japan-Madagascar Joint Statement" issued on the occasion of President Rajaonarimampianina’s visit to Japan in December last year.
