ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Security of and in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and 1st ARF-ISM on ICTs Security


1. On April 25-26, the 1st ARF-ISM on ICTs Security (ARF Inter-Sessional Meeting on Security of and in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)) was held in Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Masato Otaka, Japan’s Ambassador in charge of Cyber Policy and Deputy Director-General of Foreign Policy Bureau, participated in this meeting and co-chaired with Malaysia and Singapore.
2. At the 1st ARF-ISM on ICTs Security Meeting, based on the discussion in 1st Study Group in Tokyo in January and the 2nd Study Group, the ARF Participants discussed the Terms Of Reference (TOR) of the Study Group, possible Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), and Priority Areas and confirmed that those achievements would be reported to the ARF Inter-Sessional Support Group (ISG). The ARF Participants also shared and exchanged views on their regional efforts in cyber security.
(Note) Prior to 1st ARF-ISM on ICTs Security, 2nd Open Ended Study Group (Study Group) on Confidence Building Measures was held in Kuala Lumpur on April 23, co-chaired by Japan, Malaysia and Singapore.
