The Third Round of Japan.–U.S. Energy Strategic Dialogue
1. On March 8 local time, Japan and the United States held the Third Round of the Energy Strategic Dialogue in Washington DC, the United States of America.
2. The Japanese side was led by Mr. Toshiro Iijima, Deputy Assistant Minister, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hiroshi Ono, Deputy Director General, Global Environment Bureau, Ministry of the Environment and a representative from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, among others. The U.S. side was led by Ms. Sandra Oudkirk, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Energy Resources, Department of State, and included participants from the State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources and Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Defense.
3. In the meeting, the two delegations held fruitful discussions on topics including geographical developments and energy markets in light of energy security, as well as energy cooperation in multilateral fora and energy resilience.
