POKEMON and HELLO KITTY appointed as Special Envoys (Mascot Character) for EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN

On November 28, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, presented to POKEMON (representative: PIKACHU) and HELLO KITTY the letters appointing them as Special Envoys (Mascot Character) for EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN, thereby asking for their cooperation in duties relating to Japan’s 2025 World Expo bid.

In addition to Japan, France (Sacré, Greater Paris), Russia (Ekaterinburg) and Azerbaijan (Baku) have also announced their candidacies as host countries for the World Expo 2025. The host country will be decided in a vote at a Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly scheduled to be held in November 2018.
