Presentation for Osaka’s Bid to Host the 2025 World Exposition Given at the BIE (Bureau International des Expositions) General Assembly
On June 14 (local time in Paris June 14) the Government of Japan gave a presentation to the BIE member states at the General Assembly of the BIE that was held in Paris, with the aim of garnering support for the World EXPO 2025 in Osaka.
During the presentation a video message from Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, was shown, along with a video conveying the concept for the Osaka Expo and the appeal of Kansai/Osaka region. In addition, Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, Chairman of the 2025 Japan World Expo Committee (and Chairman of the Japan Business Federation) (English (PDF) / Japanese (PDF)) and Mr. Ichiro Matsui, President of the Committee (and Governor of Osaka Prefecture) (English (PDF) / Japanese (PDF)) gave speeches.
(Reference 1) Background and objectives
On April 24, 2017, the Government of Japan submitted an application as a host country for the 2025 World Exposition to the BIE under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.
Four countries (Japan, France, Russia and Azerbaijan) are bidding to host the 2025 World Exposition, and each candidate country gave presentations to the BIE member countries.
