MIRAI Program 2017
1. From October 4th to 11th, 84 graduate and undergraduate students from Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus region visit Japan as members of the the first group of MIRAI Program 2017, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The second group of 82 students from Europe will arrive in Japan in December.
2. The first group will visit Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto to experience various aspects of Japanese society including traditional Japanese culture. In addition, the students will attend academic lectures on politics, economics and sociology at Keio University and exchange their opinions with Japanese students. In Hiroshima, students will visit the Peace Memorial Park, listen to stories of hibakusha(survivors of the atomic bombing) and learn the realities of the atomic bombing.
3. On the final day of the program, students will be invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pay a courtesy call to Mr. Iwao Horii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and hold a final reporting session.
4. Through the program, students are expected to deepen understanding of Japan and actively deliver messages about their experiences in Japan even after they return to their own countries.
