Telephone Conversation between Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Minister of Economy and Planning Adel Fakeih of Saudi Arabia
On August 10, from 20:30 for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, had telephone conversation with H.E. Eng. Adel Fakeih, Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The overview is as follows.
1. In the beginning, Minister Fakeih extended his congratulations to Minister Kono upon his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs. Minister Kono expressed his appreciation and stated that the relationship of Japan with the Middle East, especially with Saudi Arabia, is important, and that he will work to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries through the Japan-Saudi Vision 2030 (PDF)
which was formulated upon the visit by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, to Japan this past March.
2. Minister Fakeih responded that Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are important strategic partners, and that he looks forward to working together with Minister Kono for development of the bilateral relationship.
