Telephone Conversation between Foreign Minister Taro Kono
and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia
On August 4, from 8 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, had telephone conversation with H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The overview is as follows.
1. In the beginning, Crown Prince Mohammed extended his congratulations to Minister Kono upon his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs. In return, Minister Kono congratulated Crown Prince Mohammed on his appointment as Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, and stated that he will work to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.
2. Crown Prince Mohammed responded that Japan and Saudi Arabia are important political and economic partners, and that he is looking forward to working together with Minister Kono for development of the bilateral relationship.
