“The Second Trilateral High-Level Dialogue on the Arctic”
1. The Second Trilateral High-Level Dialogue on the Arctic among Japan, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea will be held in Tokyo on June 8, 2017. Ms. Kazuko Shiraishi, Ambassador in charge of Arctic Affairs, and her Chinese and Korean counterparts, Mr. Gao Feng, Special Representative for Arctic Affairs, and Mr. Kim Young-jun, Ambassador for Arctic Affairs, as well as representatives from relevant ministries and research institutions, will attend the meeting.
2. This Trialateral Dialogue was established based on the “Joint Declaration for Peace and Cooperation in Northeast Asia” issued at the occation of the Japan-China-ROK Trilateral Summit, which was held in Seoul in November 2015. The first Dialogue was held in Seoul in April 2016.
3. In this Dialogue, the three countries will exchange views on each country’s Arctic policy, various challenges related to the Arctic and the possibility of future Japan-China-ROK cooperation in this field, among others.
