1. On June 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will jointly host the 1st Regional Promotion Seminar in fiscal year 2017 with Gunma Prefecture, Ise-Shima Area (Ise City, Shima City, Toba City and Minami-Ise Town in Mie Prefecture), Yokohama City (Kanagawa Prefecture) and Tsubame-Sanjo Area (Tsubame City and Sanjo City in Niigata Prefecture) at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.

2. This seminar will give local governments an opportunity to promote and appeal their policies and the attractiveness of their respective regions to the diplomatic corps accredited in Japan, and it will be held as a part of the Ministry’s projects for supporting various international initiatives by local municipalities.

3. At this seminar, participating local governments will give presentations about their industries, policies, tourist attractions, indigenous products, etc. of their respective regions. Additionally, following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for local governmental bodies and the diplomatic corps to interact with one another freely, and this is expected to promote foreign diplomats’ understanding for each region of Japan and foster networking between the local governments and the diplomatic corps.
