Reports of Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria

1. The Government of Japan is deeply concerned by the reports that chemical weapons were allegedly used in an airstrike in Idlib governorate, northwestern Syria on April 4(same day local time), which took the lives of many civilians.
2. The Government of Japan strongly condemns this act if the use of chemical weapon is confirmed. The Government of Japan calls upon related countries and organizations to promptly find out what occurred.
3. The use of chemical weapons is not permissible under any circumstances. The Government of Japan intends to coordinate with the international community to achieve the cessation of all violence.
