Teleconference between Director-General Kanasugi and Special Representative Yun
1. On March 23, Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, exchanged views with Ambassador Joseph Y. Yun, Special Representative for North Korea Policy, the United States Department of State, via telephone.
2. Based on the outcomes of the recent visit to Asia, including Japan, by the Honorable Rex W. Tillerson, Secretary of State of the U.S., and other developments, the two officials exchanged views on the recent situation regarding North Korea, and agreed to strongly urge North Korea to refrain from any further provocations and comply with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and other international commitments. Both officials also reaffirmed that, in light of the U.S. policy review towards North Koera, they will closely coordinate policies at the working level as well, and continue to promote close Japan-U.S. and Japan-U.S.-ROK cooperation.
