1. On March 6, Mr. Kenji Kanasugi, Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, exchanged views with Ambassador Joseph Y. Yun, Special Representative for North Korea Policy, U.S. Department of State via telephone.

2. Director-General Kanasugi and Special Representative Yun shared the view that the ballistic missile launches by North Korea earlier that day are totally unacceptable, and agreed to strongly urge North Korea to refrain from any further provocation and comply with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and other international commitments. In addition, Director-General Kanasugi and Special Representative Yun reaffirmed that Japan and the U.S., and Japan, the U.S., and the ROK, will continue to work closely together, including at the United Nations.
