Presidential Election in the Federal Republic of Somalia

February 10, 2017
1. Japan congratulates that the presidential election in the Federal Republic of Somalia was held peacefully on February 9th (February 8th in local time), and Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo was elected as the new President.
2. Japan hopes that Somalia will make further progress in consolidating peace under the new President.
3. Japan will continue to support peace and stability in Somalia in collaboration with the international community.
