Visit of Prof. Kennedy Gastorn, Secretary General, Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization, to Japan
1. Prof. Kennedy Gastorn, Secretary General, Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), will visit Japan from January 31 to February 7 on invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
2. During his stay in Japan, Prof. Gastorn will exchange views with relevant officials of the Government of Japan and participate as panelist in the 3rd International Symposium on the Law of the Sea “20 Years of Development of the Law of the Sea and Emerging Challenges”. He will also give lectures at the Japan International Cooperation Organization (JICA) on February 1, and at the Center for Asian Legal Exchange, Nagoya University, on February 3.
3. Japan has consistently supported the activities of AALCO, the consultative body on international law in the Asian and African regions, as one of its founding Member States since 1956. The visit of Prof. Gastorn to Japan is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the Government of Japan and AALCO.
