Summary of the Sixth Round of the Negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)
1. The sixth round of the negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) was held from Monday, January 23 to Thursday, 26 in Ankara, Turkey.
2. From the Japanese side, Mr. Keiji Ide, Representative of the Government of Japan for Free Trade and Economic Agreement Negotiations (Chief Negotiator), and representatives from relevant ministries attended this round of meeting. From the Turkish side, Mr. Murat Yapici, Director-General for the EU Affairs (Chief Negotiator) and representatives from relevant ministries participated.
3. At the meeting, the both sides discussed the areas including general provisions, trade in goods, rules of origin, trade in services, customs procedures, intellectual property rights, investment, competition, TBT and dispute settlement.
4. The both sides decided to work on scheduling the dates of the seventh round of negotiations to be held in Japan, through diplomatic channels.
