1. On January 12, 24 files of diplomatic records (10,790 pages in total) were disclosed to the general public and became available for access at the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The contents of the files include: (1) the handling of the post war situation, (2) the visit to Japan by Mr. Hua Guofeng, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in 1980, (3) the visit to Japan by Mr. Hu Yaobang, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in 1983, (4) the visits by Mr. Yasuhiro Nakasone, Prime Minister of Japan, to the United States in 1983 and China in 1984, and (5) the shoot-down of the Korean Air Lines aircraft off the coast of the Sakhalin Islands.
