The 4th Japan-China-ROK Counter-Terrorism Consultation

1. The 4th Japan-China-ROK Counter-Terrorism Consultation was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, on November 15. Ambassador Shin Maeng-ho, Ambassador for International Security Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea served as the chair of the Consultation with Ambassador Yuji KUMAMARU, Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Ambassador Liu Guangyuan, Director General of the Department of External Security Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

2. The three parties exchanged views on current international and regional terrorism situations as well as information on recent counterterrorism efforts by respective parties.

3. The three parties shared concerns for the spread of terrorist threat in Asia, and reiterated that the international community including Japan, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea should stand united in its efforts to counter terrorism. The three parties also reaffirmed that they will bolster information sharing and cooperation through the framework of the trilateral counter-terrorism consultation, and that they will continue discussion in order to realize concrete cooperation in areas such as capacity building.
