Messages following the terror attack in Davao, Philippines

  1. 1. Following the terror attack that occurred in Davao, Philippines on September 2, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent the following message to H.E. Mr. Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines on September 3.

    “I cannot help feeling indignation to learn that a bombing incident by terrorism caused numerous casualties in Davao City where Your Excellency served as the mayor for many years.
    Such terrorist attacks will never be allowed whatever the reason is. I firmly condemn it. On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I would like to pray for the deceased, and express my heartfelt sympathy to the injured and their families.
    Japan stands with the Philippines when Your Excellency and people of the Philippines are overcoming this difficulty in solidarity.”

    2. Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida also sent his message in the same line to H.E. Mr. Perfecto Yasay, Secretary of Foreign Affairs on September 3.
