Emergency Grant Aid in response to food shortage in Southern Africa

1. On August 2, the Government of Japan decided to extend Emergency Grant Aid of 5 million US dollars to Southern Africa through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in response to food shortage.
2. This emergency grant aid is to provide food and nutrition support to Mozambique, Malawi, Lesotho and Swaziland, in light of serious humanitarian needs such as food shortage and malnutrition caused by El-Niño phenomenon.
