Former Representative of the Government of Japan to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Appointed as the Deputy Director of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Development Centre
1. On July 18 (same day local time), the OECD Development Centre announced that it had appointed Ms. Naoko Ueda, former Representative of the Government of Japan to the Council of the ICAO, as its Deputy Director, as of July 15.
2. With her wide experience and extensive knowledge of development cooperation, Ms. Ueda is expected to contribute to various activities of the Development Centre. More specifically, Ms. Ueda, as Deputy Director, will contribute to develop the strategic direction of the Development Centre, including activities in the Southeast Asia and Pacific Ocean as well as thematic works such as gender equality. Ms. Ueda is the most high-level Japanese female official within the OECD.
3. The Development Centre, composed of OECD members, emerging and developing countries, is a key platform to facilitate policy dialogues on development in a variety of regions. Japan intends to actively cooperate with and contribute to the Development Centre’s activities. Japan intends to fulfill the role of further strengthening relations between the Development Centre and Asia, along with continuing to support the Development Centre’s activities, such as by contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
