India’s Participation in the Missile Technology Control Regime

1. On June 27, the Republic of India joined the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), and as a result the MTCR now counts 35 countries as subscribing governments.
2. As stated in the Japan-India Joint Statement announced in December 2015, Japan has been attaching importance to India’s participation in the MTCR with the aim of strengthening the international non-proliferation efforts.
3. Japan welcomes India’s participation, which will help strengthen the efforts to prevent proliferation of missiles capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction as well as related equipment and technologies. Japan intends to continue working to strengthen the international non-proliferation regimes.
