1. On June 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will jointly host the 1st Regional Promotion Seminar in fiscal year 2016 with Nagano Prefecture, Yokosuka City (Kanagawa), Iki City (Nagasakai Prefecture), Suzuka City (Mie Prefecture) at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo.

2. This seminar will give local governments an opportunity to promote their policies and to appeal the attraction of their respective regions to the diplomatic corps accredited in Tokyo, and it will be held as a part of the Ministry’s projects for supporting various international initiatives by local municipalities.

3. At this seminar, participating local governments will give presentations about their industries, policies, tourist attractions, indigenous products, etc. of their respective regions. Additionally, following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for local governmental bodys and the diplomatic corps to interact with one another freely, and this is expected to promote foreign diplomats’ understanding for each region of Japan and foster the creation of networks between the local governments and the diplomatic corps.
