Conglatulatory Messages to President-elect and Vice-President-elect of the Philippines

Regarding the presidential elections held in May 9, Phillipine Congress officially proclaimed Mr. Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City Mayor as President-elect and Ms. Maria Leonor G. Robredo, member of House of the Representatives, as Vice-President-elect. Upon this occasion, congratulatory letters have been sent from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the President-elect, and from Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida to the Vice-President-elect respectively on May 31.

In the letter, Prime Minister Abe extended his warmest congratulations to President-elect Duterte, and assured that Japan would do its utmost to cooperate with the Philippines’ efforts toward further progress of the country. Prim Minister Abe also expressed his wish to work closely as “Strategic Partners” to further enhance partnership of the two countries.

Foreign Minister Kishida extended his cordial congratulations to Vice-President-elect Robredo, and expressed his sincere hope that the friendly and cooperative relations existing between the two countries would be further enhanced under the new administration. Foreign Minister Kishida assured that Japan would also exert its best efforts to strengthen the bilateral relations.
