Formulation of “Development Strategy for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”

1. Ministery of Foreign Affairs of Japan formulated “Development Strategy for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”.
2. This strategy was developed as one of thematic policies under the Development Cooperation Charter.
3. Its priority initiatives include promotion of gender responsive infrastructure, girl’s education (including in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)) and women’s leadership especially in the field of disaster risk reduction.
4. Japan will strengthen its contribution toward gender equality and women’s empowerment in accordance with this policy.
