Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister Kishida to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

1. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a congratulatory letter to Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, Chairperson of the National League for Democracy, on her appointment as the next Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
2. In the letter, Foreign Minister Kishida welcomed the major step in the democratization process in Myanmar, following a democratic election and preparations for the government transfer, thanks to Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi’s strong commitment and determined efforts to achieve democratization over many years. Foreign Minister Kishida also communicated Japan’s desire to cooperate closely to further advance the cooperative relationship between Japan and Myanmar.
