Japan’s contribution to The Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) at the International Criminal Court (ICC)

December 24, 2015

1. The Government of Japan made a voluntary contribution of approximately €48,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

2. The TFV has been implementing support projects for female and child victims in the Republic of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has produced steady results. Moreover, the TFV is expected to implement its reparation project in a full-fledged manner for the victims of the case against Mr. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for which the ICC had already rendered its final judgement in 2014. The Government of Japan is of the view that through this contribution it will continue the support for victims including the protection of female under armed conflicts.

3. The whole contribution at this time is earmarked for victims of sexual and gender based violence.
