The Third Municipal Elections in Saudi Arabia

1. Japan welcomes the successful implementation of the third municipal elections in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on December 12, 2015, where Saudi women participated as candidates and voters, and twenty female candidates were elected for the first time in history.
2. Japan highly appreciates the efforts of the Government of Saudi Arabia towards the expansion of national political participation, including by women, and will work more closely with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for further enhancing bilateral relations.
