Final Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)
(Statement by Foreign Press Secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura)
1. The Government of Japan welcomes the “Adoption Day” of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian Nuclear Issue on 18th October.
2. The steady implementation of the JCPOA is essential for the strengthening of the international non-proliferation regime and the stability in the Middle East. In close coordination with the international community, Japan will continue to support the implementation process of the JCPOA.
3. As part of such effort, in line with the Joint Statement issued when Foreign Minister Kishida recently visited Iran, Japan will cooperate in the fields including nuclear safety after “Implementation Day” when key measures taken by the Iranian side are verified, in order to support the steady implementation of the JCPOA. Furthermore, with regard to the measures against Iran’s nuclear activities, which have been in place to implement the successive United Nations Security Council Resolutions, the Government of Japan will coordinate towards the implementation of the necessary measures that will take place after “Implementation Day”.
