USS “Ronald Reagan” Scheduled to Arrive in Yokosuka

1. The U.S. Navy has advised Ministry of Foreign Affairs today that it has initiated preliminary planning for the arrival of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS “Ronald Reagan” to Yokosuka, tentably scheduled on October 2.
2. The Government of Japan recognizes that the continuous strong presence of the U.S. Navy will contribute to the security of Japan and the maintenance of peace and security of the region. In addition, the Government of Japan takes note of the fact that the “Ronald Reagan” joined relief activities by the U.S. Forces (the Operation Tomodachi) in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake and welcomes the arrival of the aircraft carrier.
