Terrorist Attack in Iraq (Statement by the Foreign Press Secretary Kawamura)

1. We are strongly shocked and outraged by the terrorist attack using a car bomb that caused more than 100 deaths and many injuries in Northern Iraq on July 17th. We express our sincere condolences to the victims and their families.
2. Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason. Japan strongly condemns such atrocious act of terrorism that indiscriminately targets innocent civilians. Japan expresses its solidarity with the Government of Iraq and their people.
