Japan Submits its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC)
(Fiscal Year 2030 Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Target)

1. On July 17, at the 30th meeting of the Global Warming Prevention Headquarters, the Government of Japan decided to set Japan’s Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) for greenhouse gas emissions at the level of a reduction of 26.0% by fiscal year (FY) 2030 compared to FY 2013 (25.4% compared to FY 2005) (approximately 1.042 billion t-CO₂eq as 2030 emissions), and submitted it to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat.
2. Based on this INDC, the Government of Japan will continue to proactively engage in international negotiations in order to achieve a fair and effective framework applicable to all Parties.
