Summary of the Second Round of the Negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)
1. The second round of the negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) was held from Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17 in Ankara, Turkey.
2. From the Japanese side, Mr. Toshiro Suzuki, Ambassador for International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Chief Negotiator), and representatives from relevant ministries attended this round of meeting. From the Turkish side, Mr. Murat Yapici, Director-General for the EU Affairs (Chief Negotiator) and representatives from relevant ministries participated.
3. At the round, both sides exchanged their views on market access of trade in goods, investment, intellectual property rights, improvement of the business environment, government procurement, SPS, TBT, electronic commerce, labor and general provisions.
4. Both sides decided to work on scheduling the dates of the third round of negotiations to be held in Tokyo through diplomatic channels.
