Messages of Condolences Following the Crash of Germanwings Flight
1. On March 24 (local time), Germanwings Flight 9525 from Barcelona , Spain, to Dusseldorf , Germany, crashed in the Alps mountains range in the south of France. There were 150 people on board, including 2 Japanese nationals on the passenger list, and the Government of Japan are making every possible effort into gathering information including the confirmation of the Japanese nationals’ safety.
2. Based on this situation, on March 25 Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister, sent messages of condolences to H.E.Dr. Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, and H.E.Mr. Mariano Rajoy, President of the Government of Spain, and sent a message of thanks to H.E.Mr. François Hollande, President of the French Republic, for the rescue efforts of the Government of France. In addition, Mr. Fumio Kishida, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent the similar messagesto H.E.Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany; H.E.Dr. José Manuel García-Margallo , Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain; and H.E.Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of the French Republic.
