The Fourth Japan-CARICOM Ministerial-Level Conference

1. The Fourth Japan-CARICOM Ministerial-Level Conference will be held in Tokyo on November 15 between Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and his counterparts from 14 member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Bilateral meetings will also be held on this occasion.

2. At this conference, the ministers will follow-up the First Japan-CARICOM Summit Meeting in July and are expected to enhance collaboration on various global agenda, including environment issues and climate change.

3. The 14 CARICOM member states, frequently taking a common position in the international arena, hold a certain presence in the international community. It is expected that they will deepen their understanding and support towards Japan’s positions on various global issues through this conference. It is expected that the relationship between Japan and CARICOM will be further strengthened through this Conference on the occasion of Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year 2014.
