Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Attacks targeted military checkpoints of the North Sinai Egypt

1. The Government of Japan deeply deplores the attacks that targeted military checkpoints of the North Sinai of Egypt in the afternoon of October 24th (the evening of October 24th Japan time) and caused large number of casualties. Japan prays for the deceased people and expresses its condolences to their families. And Japan extends its heartfelt sympathy to those injured.
2. Acts of terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and the Government of Japan firmly condemns terrorism in all its forms.
3. The Government of Japan hopes that security in Egypt will be stabilized promptly and will actively support Egypt's efforts for establishment and development of a democratic society as well as realization of economic and social stability.
