Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the recent situation in the Republic of Yemen

October 15, 2014

1. Japan is deeply concerned by the continuation of acts of terrorism in the Republic of Yemen that have resulted in large numbers of casualties, including a terrorist suicide bombing in Sana’a City and an attack on the national armed forces in Hadramaut Province on October 9. Japan offers its heartfelt condolences to the victims and the bereaved families, and prays for the early recovery of those who were injured.

2. Japan strongly condemns such acts of terrorism as totally unacceptable, and reiterates that in no circumstances can any act of terrorism be justified.

3. Japan calls on all the concerned parties in Yemen to advance the transition process by implementing the agreements reached thus far, and hopes that the citizens of Yemen will unite to overcome the current challenges.
